Ringu Tulku Rinpoche who was born in Tibet in 1952 is Bodhicharya France's spiritual authority. He is a Master of the Kagyu and Nyingmapa Orders of Tibetan Buddhism, trained by H.H. the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche. He took his formal education at Namgyal Institute of Tibetologiy in Sikkim and at Varanasi University where he taught tibetology for 17 years.

Since 1990, Rinpoche has been teaching the Dharma according to the direct Mahamudra way, both in Asia and in the West, where he spends most of his time. Recently, he also started to teach through an Online Shedra (Dharma Study Program). Rinpoche aims at making his teachings and the Dharma as accessible as possible and promotes direct contact with his students. He is also close to His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje and translates for His Holiness from Tibetan into English regularly.

In 1998, he founded Bodhicharya, an international organization that coordinates worldwide activities  to preserve and transmit Buddhist teachings, to promote intercultural and interfaith dialogues, and initiates educational and social projects. Bodhicharya's main seat is located in Brussels, Belgium. There are other Bodhicharaya groups in Germany, England, Ireland, Finland, Spain, Norway and in the United States. Bodhicharya France is the French representative of Bodhicharya International.

Rinpoche also founded Rigul Trust, an organization that raises funds for welfare projects and poverty relief in Tibetan communities in India and Tibet.

When Rinpoche is in India, he lives in Sikkim where he built a retreat center sponsored by His Holiness Gyalsab Rinpoche and dedicated to his Western students. There, he is involved in environmental projects such as the Sowa Rigpa institute whose aim is the development and preservation of traditional medecinal herbs from Tibet.

 Lastly, Rinpoche participates in international conferences about the links between Buddhism and Science and in many projects fostering worldwide peace and progress.
